College remains good investment (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise)

“Columbia State warned family and friends of graduates Saturday to arrive early. The local community college’s commencement would pack the Webster Athletic Center, and the overflow crowd would be sent to Frank G. Clement Building’s Ledbetter Auditorium next door to watch on television. “We’re jam packed. Every year, we’re growing, and that’s a good thing,” Columbia State President Janet F. Smith said. “That means we have more students who are accomplish their goals and going into our communities to be leaders.” Since the advent of the Tennessee Promise and opening of a campus in Williamson County, Columbia State has seen a 20% increase in enrollment to 6,422. More than 200 received their associate degrees Saturday morning as cheers echoed in the college’s gymnasium and bagpipes played as the students marched in and out of the commencement ceremony.”
